Components of the Programme
The Preschool Unit ensures that Belizean children have the right to quality preschool education which fosters child development and gives them positive start in life through the provision of teacher training, policy development, public awareness campaigns and summer preschool readiness programmes.
Curriculum
-Develop and implement early childhood curriculum for Pre-School education
Licensing
-Conducting licensing inspection and monitoring visits to preschools as a means to ensuring quality preschool education
Role in Preschools
-Supportive role to management bodies of preschools
Special Needs Children
-Support the inclusion of special needs children in preschools
Summer Program
-Conduct school readiness summer program in areas where there is no preschool education program available
Teacher Training
-Teacher training for preschool and early childhood workers
